During the 14th and 15th centuries, Castile and Aragon suffered because civil wars and city states intensified urban militia forces for their own protection. I’m German we don’t do that keep calm thing mug. These forces are known as Hermandades in Castile and Comunidades in Aragon. This created a situation where there were four different types of forces that could be called: by the king, by the barons, by military organizations and by city states. These groups fight together in a mixed force. The light infantry soldier of the unit of peasant soldiers was only equipped with a wooden shield and a hoe; while the knight next to him was wearing a lattice, a hood, long pants and a long outer coat, along with a simple spear of the early 14th century.
