In 1727, Benjamin Franklin, at the age of 21, founded Junto, a group of "voluntary craftsmen and merchants who aspire to hope to improvethemselves by improving the community." Massachusetts girl if my mouth doesn’t say it my face definitely will shirt. Junto is a group that discusses the problems of the day; it eventually led to the birth of many other organizations in Philadelphia. Reading is a regular activity of Junto, but books at that time were rare and expensive. The members set up a library, and initially brought their books to contribute. This doesn't work, but Franklin continues with the idea of a library where readers will pay for borrowing books, and members will contribute their money to buy books. This idea led to the creation of the Library Company, and the Library Company of Philadelphia's charter was drafted by Franklin in 1731.
